Rich, moisture-retentive soil, mulched with plenty of compost.

Position

Full sun.

Frost tolerant

Tolerates light frost.

Feeding

Feed monthly with a liquid organic fertiliser.

Spacing

Single Plants: 35cm (1' 1") each way (minimum)
Rows: 30cm (11") with 40cm (1' 3") row gap (minimum)

Sow and Plant

In frost areas, sow under cover 6 weeks before last spring frost. Plant out in late spring, when the weather is settled and warm. In frost-free areas, sow seed directly or in seed beds/seed trays in spring

Harvesting

Young leaves can be used to season cooked dishes. Harvest the roots after the weather cools in the autumn.
